Disclaimer: You must know the basics of crochet and the abbreviations that crochet pattern writers use.
Here is a simple crochet pattern for making hearts. They are great to use for Valentines Day garlands, pocket friends, or as a token of your affection. Crochet hearts are simple to learn and fun to make. Follow the step-by-step instructions below and have fun sharing with your friends!
Let’s begin by making a magic circle. (If you do not know how to make one, you may need to find a detailed tutorial on that and come back to this site.) You need to pull your circle smaller so it is easier to work into.
Chain 2. Work 3 Triple crochet into the circle and 3 double crochet into the circle. Now Chain 1, 1 Triple crochet into the circle, and Chain 1 again. Now, you will repeat your first steps, but instead you will mirror them: 3 Double crochet into the circle, 3 triple crochet into the circle, and chain 2. End with a slip stitch into your first stitch. Now, you can pull the magic ring closed and you have made your very first heart!
Simplified pattern to follow:

Ch 1, tr, ch 1
3 dc, 3tr, Ch2, sl st
